Community
The episode ends. The argument keeps going.
If you are about to sign off a five-figure video budget, there is nowhere to check whether that number is normal or what it tends to buy. No analyst covers it. Your agency is not a neutral source. This is a B2B video marketing community built around closing that gap — and around the people, on both sides of the invoice, who can.
It runs on the same thesis as the show: that video which cannot be traced to a conversation is a cost, not an investment. If that is new, start with the dark funnel and the Method — or score your own spend with the Dark-Funnel Video Audit and bring the result in with you.

- The Numbers
- A running, member-built record of what corporate video costs and what it returns. Anonymised, and the only place we know of where the figures are posted by the people who paid them.
- Work read before you commit
- Post a brief, a script, or a rough cut. It gets read by people who commission and make the same work — while it can still change.
- Both sides of the table
- Marketers carrying a pipeline number and the crews they hire, in one room. Buyers hear how the work gets made; makers hear what the work is actually measured on.
The Numbers
A canvas every member can edit. You add one row about a video you paid for or made, and in return you get to read everyone else's. It is worth something at twenty rows and a great deal at two hundred, which is why the room asks you to add before you browse.
| What | Spend | What it was for | What happened |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand film | Band | What it was commissioned to do | What actually happened, six months on |
| Customer stories | Band | Where it sat in the funnel | Whether sales used it, and whether anything closed |
| Product explainer | Band | What it replaced | The measurable change, or the honest “none” |
Every row is anonymised before it goes up. Most members are under some form of NDA, and the rule protecting that is the reason the rows keep coming.
“Not another Slack.”
Fair. Most of them ask for daily attention and give back a feed you feel behind on. This one is built to be opened twice a month — once when an episode lands, and once when you are about to spend money and want to know what that money usually does. Mute everything else. The room is a reference you contribute to, not a conversation you have to keep up with.
The rooms
Four channels. More will open when there is enough traffic to fill them — a sidebar of empty rooms tells you more about a community than any welcome message does.
-
#the-numbers
The canvas, and the arguments about it. What things cost, what they returned.
-
#start-here
What you make, who buys it, and what you are trying to figure out this quarter.
-
#episode-threads
One thread per episode, opened as a question rather than an announcement.
-
#teardowns
Volunteer work, read by peers. Nothing gets torn down uninvited.
House rules
Four, with what happens if they are broken. Published so the room can hold itself to them rather than waiting for someone to police it.
-
Real name, real company.
Reading without posting is fine. Anonymity is not — the numbers only work if people know who is posting them.
-
No pitching. One private nudge, then removal.
This applies to us before it applies to anyone else. Answer a question well and the work speaks for you.
-
Anonymise the client before you post their numbers.
Most members are under some form of NDA. The rule is there to protect you, not to police you.
-
What is said in a numbers thread stays in the numbers thread.
Share the idea, never the identity. A breach of this is the most serious thing that can happen in the room.
Questions, answered
Is this a funnel for your production company?
No, and we understand why you would ask — Frame to Funnel sits next to a production company. The fastest way to kill this room is for members to suspect it is a lead list, so the no-pitching rule applies to us before it applies to anyone else. If you ever see us break it, say so in the room.
How big is it?
New, and small on purpose. We would rather have forty people who post than five hundred who lurk, and early members shape what this becomes far more than later ones will.
Do I have to be there every day?
No. Most of what makes it useful is a reference you consult when you need it, not a feed you keep up with. Twice a month is a perfectly normal way to use it.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is free and there is no paid tier behind it.
Do I have to listen to the podcast to join?
No. The episode threads are a way in, not a requirement, and plenty of people will find the show through the room rather than the other way round.
The invite link is not working. What now?
Slack invite links expire from time to time. Get in touch through the contact page and we will send a fresh one.
